30 Before April 30 Project 24 Completed!

Tuesday, May 24, 2011

For months I had been thinking about our out-of-town (OOT) guest bags. We needed 45 bags so there were limits to what exactly I could and could not do before breaking the bank. At first, I purchased bags from an online paper company, but the size would have required too many fillers to make them actually look good. The second bags I picked up were still too big. Luckily for me, craigslist and receipts brought me back to square one and no money lost.

One day as I walked down the aisles of Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts, I spotted the perfect bag - just slightly larger than your run-of-the-mill small gift bags, but not too big that I had to buy 20 different pieces to fill the thing. Better yet, they were on clearance for 50 cents each! I picked up the entire stack ... 46!

The label I placed on each bag was actually a free template that I downloaded and personalized at Wedding Chicks, and I used an Avery shipping label template. I included the following items in each bag:

- large bottle of water
- free local information from the Chamber of Commerce
- snacks
- homemade cookies from my mom (and a personalized label)
- personalized doorhanger (made by me; let me know if you need the template)
- toys and coloring books for the kids
- some of the bags had pictures that we had printed from the bachelor party (his idea)

And to add a little bit of cuteness, a ribbon knotted around the handle. There was a huge weight lifted off of this bride's shoulders when I dropped these off! A big thanks to my cousins for helping me stuff these!
