craft: making time to save our memories

Wednesday, January 4, 2012

I'm not going to bore you with my list of 2012 resolutions but I will let the kitty out of the bag by sharing my most ambitious resolution - scanning our antique pictures and making sure to save them in a cloud somewhere for family and friends to share forevermore. The fear of a house burning down and losing everything doesn't tear me up as much as losing pictures in the process.

There's no way I can stand scanning each picture in one sitting, so I have dedicated an hour every week to complete this project and ultimately organize the pictures in boxes. To take the project from this ...

... to this (even the Ikea boxes) ...

The Crafting Chicks explain the importance of saving pictures and the available options to storing your memories in the case of a fire/flood/tornado/child (I'm doing the cloud) or a computer meltdown (they suggest an external hard drive). This is the year to stop saying "I should really do that" and actually really start doing. Get off your butt.

  1. This is such a great resolution! I like the idea of one hour/week to scanning, much more attainable.
