home: rustic and soft valentine's day mantel

This week I'll share Valentine's day projects around the house but get excited about next week when the IHB contributors get back together for a much-anticipated Pinterest-a-thon party. It's that time of year to get your hearts and chocolates out on the table for this fluffy holiday, and here are some motivational projects!
First, the yearly Valentine's day mantel reveal is a different approach to my usual glitter and bright colored layout. Since I'm in love with the IHB Etsy 'Love' banner with the vintage fabric that I picked up last year, I went with soft colors and simple pieces. Like I have done on most projects, I walked around the house and arranged items that I already had.
The dried flower arrangement is actually my wedding bouquet which sits on a high shelf for no one to see. Here, it has another opportunity for public viewing.
This is a picture of my parents when they came to America in the late 1960s/early 1970s. I keep this picture around as a precious reminder of how hard they worked to give me the opportunities that they never had.

You can buy the 'Love' banner here and there's still time before the holiday to hang it above your fireplace.
Ultimately, I love how everything turned out with the green wall, banner and rustic touches. And I didn't spend a dollar to put this Valentine's day mantel together. Let's see what you can find around the house to create your look!
